Welcome to the stay that gives back

Travel that feels good. Does good.

Hi, I’m Amy McLaren, CEO of Village Impact — a Canadian registered charity that has been building schools and expanding opportunities for youth in rural Kenya since 2009. Bustani Manor is a place that’s close to my heart.

Tucked into the peaceful hills of Nakuru’s Milimani neighbourhood, it’s a boutique guesthouse with rustic charm, lush gardens and sweeping views — a quiet escape and a perfect base for exploring some of Kenya’s most breathtaking sights.

And it’s a social enterprise: 100% of net profits go to Village Impact’s education and leadership/entrepreneurship programs in Nakuru County. The property is managed by a Kenyan company and employs local staff. When you check in, a child shows up to class.

What our guests say

“Bustani Manor is my favourite place to stop over on the way to the Maasai Mara! Maurice, the house manager, makes the best pancakes, and the beautiful gardens are the perfect spot to relax and unwind. It’s such a special place to stay!”
— Sam McLaren
“I stayed at Bustani Manor during a women’s retreat hosted by Amy and the Village Impact team, and it was such a wonderful experience. The home is beautiful, with so many thoughtful little touches. The staff are incredibly welcoming, and the beds are so comfortable! What makes it even more special is knowing that the proceeds go back into supporting local projects in Kenya. I can’t wait to return!”
